Screen Time and Eye Health
As technology becomes increasingly integral to daily life, concerns about screen time and its impact on eye health have gained prominence. Prolonged exposure to screens, whether from computers, smartphones, or other devices, can have various effects on the eyes, necessitating a balanced approach to maintain ocular well-being. One primary concern is digital eye strain, also known as computer vision syndrome. Staring at screens for extended periods can cause symptoms such as eye fatigue, dryness, blurred vision, and headaches. The American Optometric Association recommends the 20-20-20 rule to mitigate digital eye strain: every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break and look at something 20 feet away to reduce eye strain and fatigue.
